Frequently Asked Questions

I have complied frequently asked questions when looking for a therapist. If there are any other questions, please email me and I would be happy to help.

How do I know therapy is for me?

Therapy is for everyone and that’s the best part. There are no criteria for wanting to meet with a therapist. If the question still persists then it’s usually a good time to see the therapist. Here are a few questions to help you decide if therapy is right for you: · Do you feel like your emotions are out of control? · Are you having difficulty managing your stress? · Do you feel like you’re struggling to cope with life’s demands? · Are you having trouble making decisions or solving problems? · Are you having difficulty in your relationships/friendships? · Do you feel overwhelmed or disconnected from your life? · Do you need help understanding your thoughts and feelings? If you find yourself saying yes to any of these questions, then therapy might be a good option for you. Therapy can provide you with the skills and support to help you cope with life’s challenges and navigate difficult situations. It can also help you to identify and manage your emotions, improve your relationships, and better understand yourself.

Will you tell me what to do?

The therapeutic process is exploratory and collaborative. Your life is your expertise, so I won't give you any direct advice. My hope is to help you to help yourself.

What is the duration of each session?

Each session is for 60 minutes. The time frame is to be respected by both therapist and the client. If the client is late, the remainder of the time is used. If the therapist is late, the missed time would be added.

  • What is therapy?
Therapy is an investment in yourself and your mental health. It can help you to gain a better understanding of yourself and make positive changes in your life. It’s a collaborative process between you and a therapist. A therapist can help you gain insight, develop coping skills, and learn to manage difficult emotions. Together, you can create a plan that works best for you on your journey of self-exploration and healing.

  • Who do you work with? What types of counseling do you provide?
I work with Indian adults and couples who fall between the ages of 18-40 years, residing globally. I provide individual as well as couples counseling.
  • Are there any concerns that you DON’T work with?
I don’t provide therapy for eating disorders, psychotic disorders like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc., or personality disorders.
  • Will I feel better after each session?
Sessions don’t guarantee a feel-good experience. Therapy is often about self-awareness and inner work. Thus, there is a possibility of the client feeling emotionally or physically drained during or after the session. This experience is a normal part of one’s healing process.
  • At what time can I reach out to you?
I’m usually available between 11:00 am IST to 7:00 pm IST from Tuesday to Saturday. I won’t be able to respond to calls, emails, or messages if I am in a session and after 7:00 pm IST. I won’t be able to respond on weekends and on public holidays.
  • Do you prescribe medications and/or diagnoses?
As a Counseling Psychologist, I cannot provide any medications or diagnoses. If they are required, I can provide a referral for the client to visit a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.
  • Where are you located?
I am based out of Mumbai. I see clients globally, online.
  • How do I book a session?
You can reach me via this website by filling up the form or email at therapy.metamorphosis@gmail.com. A short video consultation call would be scheduled at a convenient time for both the therapist and the client. The therapist would also be sharing the Therapy Consent Form which is mandatory to fill up. An Appointlet (online calendar) link would be shared with you to select the slot and after which the payment would have to be made. For existing clients, the process remains the same where you go to the Appointlet link and select the slot and make the payment. PLEASE NOTE - I can hold the slot up to 30 minutes after the slot is selected on Appointlet. Make sure to pay within 30 minutes to confirm the slot.
  • Is the pricing per session and do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes, the pricing is per session. You may contact me directly to find out the charges. I do offer a sliding scale; however, these slots are very limited, and once filled, I will be unable to take on any more.
  • Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
All counseling sessions are conducted via Zoom. I do not provide in-person sessions.
  • What is the frequency of each session?
It is suggested to start with one session per week. These sessions would usually take place at the same time. However, you can choose the structure that works best for you!
  • What is the duration of each session?
Each session is for 60 minutes. The time frame is to be respected by both therapist and the client. If the client is late, the remainder of the time is used. If the therapist is late, the missed time would be added.
  • When do I need to make the payment? What are the payment options?
You need to make the payment 48 hours prior to the session. After 48 hours, if the payment is not made, I will open the slot for somebody else. You can make the payment either through UPI or through bank transfer.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
The client needs to inform the therapist 24 hours in advance in case of cancellation and rescheduling of the session. After 24 hours, half of the session fee would be charged. This practice of being charged for no shows and late cancellations is standard in the field, and takes into account that the client is not just paying for the services rendered, but reserving a time slot which the therapist cannot offer to someone else on the short notice. An exception can be made once in extraneous circumstances.
  • What languages do you offer sessions in?
    English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
